I. APPOINTMENTS

Bishop Joseph ZEN sdb, has made the following appointments for two new permanent deacons (to be ordained on 2 October 2004), effective 3 October 2004:
Reverend Deacon Joseph CHOW Yu-hong is to assist in the pastoral ministry of St. John the Baptist Parish, Kwun Tong, Kowloon and in promoting Catholic education;
Reverend Deacon Francis TSE Ming-fai is to assist in the pastoral ministry of St. Teresa’s Parish, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon and in prison ministry.

II. MISSION SUNDAY

(a) The main theme of this year’s Mission Sunday (October 24) will be: “Preaching the Gospel to All Families and Invoking God’s Blessings on Hong Kong”. Two diocesan celebrations will be held at Hong Kong Coliseum, Hunghom, as follows:

1. “Preaching the Gospel to All Families” Evangelisation Rally
Date : Saturday, 23 October 2004
Time : 7:30 - 9:30 pm
Participants : Parents from Catholic schools

2. “God Bless Hong Kong” Solemn Mass
Date : Sunday, 24 October 2004
Time : 3 - 5 pm
Presiding : Bishop Joseph ZEN sdb
Participants : Faithful from parishes

There are specific admission tickets (in different colours) for each event. Participants should be seated at least 30 minutes in advance.
In order to meet the expenses of the above activities, Bishop Joseph ZEN sdb, has decided that a special collection is to be taken up (by any convenient means) at all public Masses on Sunday, October 10. Cheques issued for the above specific purpose should be made payable to “The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong” and sent to the Diocesan Procuration.

(b) Parishes are to adopt the proper liturgical texts for Mission Sunday.
