I. APPOINTMENTS ANDI. FUND-RAISING FOR
PHILIPPINE TYPHOON
VICTIMS
As an expression of our solidarity with the Filipinos struck by three consecutive, devastating typhoons over the past two weeks, Bishop Joseph ZEN sdb, is appealing to the faithful to pray for the victims and to make generous donations for their emergency relief. Parishes are to take up a special collection by any convenient means of their own choice, either on 12 December 2004 (Sunday) or 19 December 2004 (Sunday).
Donations may be sent to the Office for International Cooperation, Caritas-Hong Kong, Room 603, Caritas House, 2 Caine Road, Hong Kong, by cheques made payable to Caritas-Hong Kong (with the indication Philippines Typhoons on the back). Donations may also be credited into Caritas-Hong Kongs account at any branch of Belgian Bank, A/C No. 649-569250-495 in the name of Caritas-Hong Kong (Special Donations). Individual donors should indicate their names and addresses if they wish to have receipts for tax deduction purposes.

II. APPOINTMENT AND TRANSFERS
Bishop Joseph ZEN sdb, has approved the following appointment and transfers:
Rev. Jose Angel CASTELLANOS svd, ceases to be Assistant Parish Priest in St. Teresas Parish, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon, effective 31 December 2004; he will take a study leave abroad.
Sr. Teresa YUEN fmm, Editor-in-Chief of the Diocesan Weeklies, Kung Kao Po and Sunday Examiner, in place of Rev. Louis HA Ke-loon, effective 1 January 2005.
III. WORLD DAY OF PEACE
The Catholic Church will celebrate the 38th WORLD DAY OF PEACE on Saturday, 1 January 2005. The main theme is: Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good (Rom 12:21).
In response to the Holy Fathers appeal to promote world peace, Bishop Joseph ZEN sdb, will on this occasion preside at a special concelebrated Mass in the Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. Both clergy and laity are cordially invited to participate.
Parishes are to follow the Proper of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God for the eucharistic liturgy on 1 January. They are also urged to pray for world peace.
