Vocation follow up to Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO (SE): In the wake of World Youth Day it was estimated that an open forum, organised in the Congress Centre of Riocentre Rio de Janeiro on July 31 by the Neocatechetical Way on vocation to the priesthood and religious life, was attended by around 50,000 young people.

The gathering was hosted by an international team which runs the Way, Kiko Argüello, Carmen Hernández and Father Mario Pezzi, and was attended by 75 bishops. The bulk of the participants were from Brazil.

A report from the Way says that 2,000 young men expressed an interest in pursuing a vocation to the priesthood and 3,000 young women to the religious life. They have been advised to begin a discernment process with some competent group in their own countries.
