Death Notice

HONG KONG (SE): A member of the Institute of Marist Brothers of the Schools, Brother Pierre Bosco Wei Siao Shan, died in Hong Kong on November 15. He was 87-years-old.

Born in Beijing on 16 April 1928, he entered the brothers’ juniorate in his home city in 1940, graduating to novitiate in 1947, making his first profession on 5 August 1948 and final profession on the same date in 1953.

As a temporary professed brother he was sent to the United States of America to study at Marian College, graduating in 1952.

Unable to return to China, he came to Hong Kong and taught in Pooi Sun English School from 1952 to 1953 and St. Martin School from 1953 to 1954.

He then became the master of juniors of St. Chanel’s Juniorate until 1961, while at the same time holding down a teaching job at St. Francis Xavier’s College.

In 1963 he became the founding principal of St. Francis Xavier’s School, Tsuen Wan, and remained at the school until 1973, after which he was assigned back to St. Francis Xavier’s College, before becoming the principal in 1975, a position he held until retirement in 1994.

He served the Marist Brothers in various positions from superior of the community, master of juniors, member of the provincial council, deputy provincial and visitor to Hong Kong.

In 1973 he completed a course in spirituality in Rome.

A much loved brother he will be sorely missed by his community and friends. May he rest in peace.
