New committee for Association of Religious Superiors of Women

Hong Kong (SE): The Association of Major Superiors of Religious Women in Hong Kong elected a new executive committee at its annual general meeting held at the Diocese Centre in Caine Road on October 31.

Representatives of each religious women’s community took part in the meeting, during which the new committee was elected for a two-year period, 2015 to 2017.

Sister Joanna Marie Cheung spc was elected chairperson, Sister Luigia Mindassi pime and Sister Carolina Wu fma as vice-chairpersons. Sister Judith Yuen fmm is the treasurer for the new committee and Sister Regina But fdcc, secretary.

The election was carried out in the presence of Monsignor Ante Jozic and Bishop Joseph Ha.

A permanent organisation of Major Superiors of Religious Institutes of Women in Hong Kong is established in accordance with Canon 709. Every institute of women religious in Hong Kong (except specifically contemplative institutes) is represented by its major, or highest superior, or by a duly authorised delegate.

The principal aim of the association is to effect an ever closer sisterly collaboration among all religious congregations in the diocese of Hong Kong for the total development of its members and for a greater apostolic efficacy, according to the constitutions and spirit of each congregation, as well as the guidance of the Holy See and the diocese.
