Columban associates look back on a decade

HONG KONG (SE): Around 30 members of the Columban Sisters Associates Group gathered at the Caritas Restaurant in Central on November 19 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the group.

From humble beginnings one decade ago, the group has grown steadily, both in numbers and in the dedication of its members to living the missionary charism of the Missionary Sisters of St. Columban in their daily lives.

Sister Fintan Ryan explained that the members are encouraged to live a prayerful life and to use their personal talents, as well as professional expertise for the benefit of others.

“They do it in all kinds of ways,” she told the Sunday Examiner, “locally in their own neighbourhoods and among their friends and acquaintances, and a few of them have joined small outreaches across the border in Guangdong province as well.”

The evening began with a lengthy sharing session, where the members discussed the significance of some recent experiences, as well as their insights into developments in their own prayer life.

Dinner and a cake cutting ceremony followed.
