A bus that has mercy

HONG KONG (SE): Hong Kong diocese has invested in a minibus service. Throughout the Year of Mercy the 20 vehicles bearing images of Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis will ply 10 routes around Hong Kong island, Kowloon and the New Territories.

The buses are for public use and will charge the standard fare.

The Minibuses of Mercy are sponsored by Media Savvy, a group founded by Irene Chau Wai-chu, to give a visual of the theme of the year to the public eye in Hong Kong streets.

Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing took a ride on one on May 13 and is encouraging people to explain the images displayed on the sides of the vehicles to anyone who asks.

The doors display the image of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
