We are designed to help

There are people who don’t believe in God, but they are kind and generous. So how much more we Christians could do to show that caring about others is part of our faith?

We read in the bible that faith without action is dead (James 2:14). Helping others is God’s command, as we are told to love our neighbour as ourselves.

By helping others, we are loving them and loving God as well, as Matthew 25:40 says, “... whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

That’s why as believers when we help, we should not say we help because we have extra money or someone asks me to. Rather, we help because this is the will of God and he commanded me to do so.

So let's start helping one another, because we are designed by God this way. Just look at our body parts and see how they work together. Just imagine if one or two of them are not working, it will be hard for us.

That is what happens in this world now. Many of us are not working. Our faith does not function, because of our own will.

God wants us to be connected with one another, because we are one body and he is our head. We often say two is better than one, so how much more can we get if there are more than two people.

So let us make our faith alive by putting it into action. Don’t kill our faith.

To my fellow inmates, thank you very much for your help. I highly appreciate your kindness and generosity. Let us be committed to help others and always remember that we don’t help in order to receive, but we help because we have been received. We just share the blessing of God.

To my fellow inmates who would like to donate, just kindly approach your welfare officer at our institution, as they are willing to help us so that our donations can reach the needy.
