Joy of Love in Hindi

BANGALORE (AsiaNews): A Hindi translation of the Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia) was promulgated in Bangalore on September 28 by the Bishops’ Conference of the Bishops of Latin India Rite under the title, dell’Amoris Laetitia.

At the launch, the bishops explained that it is their intention to assist people at the grassroots level to focus their attention on the development of strong Catholic families.

Oswald Cardinal Gracias, the president of the bishops’ conference and the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences, placed the first copy into the hands of Archbishop Anil Couto, from Delhi.

The Indian Commission on the Family said the text is intended to promote the contents of the text, which have been widely debated throughout the country, at national, regional and diocesan levels.

They called the translation useful, especially to Catholics of the northern part of the country, where Hindi is the mother tongue. They described their commitment as “to strengthen family life, despite all the challenges it faces.”

They added that the next meeting of bishops will discuss Joy of love in the family: the Amoris Laetita and its implications for India. The next plenary assembly of the Asian bishops’ will discuss the theme, The Catholic family: the local Church of the poor and the mission of mercy, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from November 28 to December 4.
