Marian fiesta at Cheung Chau

HONG KONG (SE): A procession in honour of the Holy Cross and Our Lady of Fatima organised by Our Lady of Fatima parish in Cheung Chau and the ad hoc committee of the Jubilee of Mercy was held on October 9.

Led by John Cardinal Tong Hon and Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing, the aim of the day was to pray for the Cheung Chau community, Hong Kong and China.

It is one of the Mission Sunday activities organised by Hong Kong South-West and Islands Deanery. The event was kicked off with the recitation of 20 mysteries of the rosary followed by a procession through the village.

Over 1,300 people were escorted by more than 300 members of the Legion of Mary holding yellow flags. The one-hour procession wound its way around the narrow streets of the traditional village and the Cheung Chau Municipal Services Building, returning after it had passed Cheung Chau Park.

The afternoon came to a close as the people gathered in the playground of the parish complex for benediction of the most blessed sacrament.
