HONG KONG (SE): For Catholics in Stanley Prison, the Christmas celebration received a boost from John Cardinal Tong Hon when he said Mass on Christmas Day to share the joy of the occasion with those whose festive season is often devoid of family and religious celebration.
A press release from the government says that the assistant commissioner of the Correctional Services Department, Woo Ying-ming, together with the civil secretary, Dora Fu, the chaplain, Reverend Edwin Ng, the chief superintendent of Stanley Prison, Kan Chi-shing, as well as volunteers joined the bishop of Hong Kong at the Mass in the Category A Complex.
Cardinal Tong also spent time with patients in the prison hospital and the special unit to give his blessing for Christmas and bring some Christmas cheer and support to those in isolated custody and under separate confinement.
