A bit of teen prayer at Rosary

HONG KONG (SE): Every Saturday night at Rosary parish in Tsim Sha Tsui is LifeTeen night, a couple of hours for the English-speaking teenagers to be together, discuss life and faith, enjoy each other’s company and receive a bit of guidance from their dedicated leaders, Ruel Trinidad and Deidre Chavez.

Confirmation and first communion at Rosary

Hong Kong (SE): Fourteen young people from Rosary parish in Tsimshatsui made their first holy communion on May 28 and the same number received the sacrament of confirmation—four of whom also made their first communion–– from John Cardinal Tong Hon, who concelebrated a Mass with parish priest, Father John Baptist Tsang Hing-man, and his assistant, Father Mike Sloboda. A gathering was held in the church hall following the celebration.

Catechism programme going strong 25 years on

Hong Kong (SE): In 1989 the good sisters of St Mary’s Canossian School were no longer able to provide catechism lessons to the English-speaking children of Rosary parish. In response, Maryknoll Father James Huvane, then-assistant parish priest, together with Deirdre Chaves, a long-time parishioner, started the Church Children’s Catholic Instruction Programme. Classes began on 1 September 1990 and in 2015, the programme marked its 25th anniversary.
