When you can’t hear at Mass

HONG KONG (SE): The Hong Kong Catholic Pastoral Association for the Deaf celebrated its 40th anniversary with a Mass celebrated at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre for the Disabled in Homantin on November 4.
 
During the Mass, members of the association promised to spread the gospel among the hearing-impaired and work to embrace them in the wider Church by promoting the use of sign language at various activities.

Malling for Sunday Mass

MANILA (UCAN): Malling, or hanging around shopping malls is a popular pastime in The Philippines, and the proliferation of Sunday Masses being celebrated in shopping malls is proving to be extremely popular, leaving some wondering about the future of parish churches.

“We find it convenient,” a 53-year-old father of five, Miguel Espiño, says, adding that he believes that “wherever there are two or more people gathered in the name of God, he would listen.”

Mass to be celebrated in Pyongyang

SEOUL (AsiaNews): For the first time in many years Mass is to be celebrated on a regular basis in Pyongyang, the People’s Republic of Korea.

An announcement from the bishops of South Korea in Seoul says that priests will be sent on a regular basis to celebrate Mass for major Catholic festivities.

Anniversary Mass at Occupy epicentre

HONG KONG (SE): On the first anniversary of the launch of Occupy Central, a Mass was offered outside the government headquarters on the spot described as being the epicentre of the 79-day rally.

The Mass was celebrated on the same site at which people had gathered for the Eucharist on the opening day of the demonstration and then each Sunday during the 79-day sit-in.
