United States bishops meet with pope

VATICAN (CNS): The leaders of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) met with Pope Francis on September 13 and shared how the Church in their country has been “lacerated by the evil of sexual abuse.”

Bishops visit United States-Mexico border

SAN JUAN (CNS): “The children who are separated from their parents need to be reunited. That’s already begun and it’s certainly not finished and there may be complications, but it must be done and it’s urgent,” said Daniel Cardinal DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, the president of the United States (US) Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Sign of the times in United States election

HONG KONG (SE): “All political activity must serve and promote the good of the human person and be based on respect for his or her dignity,” Pope Francis told the United States Congress in September last year.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops repeated the papal statement in a press release issued on November 9, after Donald Trump was declared president-elect of the nation. The bishops also note that millions of Americans voted for an opportunity for their families.
