Plea for missing Chinese bishop

Hong Kong (UCAN): Su Tianyou, the nephew of Bishop James Su Zhimin of the unofficial Church in Baoding, Hebei province, has appealed for information about his whereabouts. The bishop has been missing for 23 years.
 
“His whereabouts are unknown and I don’t even know if he is alive or not. I am upset with tears every time I think of this 87-year-old man. Please pray for him,” Su said.

Missing bishop resurfaces

WENZHOU (UCAN): Bishop Shao Zhuming, from Wenzhou, who has been missing since security officials detained him in April, just before Easter, has resurfaced at a Beijing hospital. Through a WeChat message, the bishop from the unofficial Church community said he was scheduled to have ear surgery on September 11.
 
“Many thanks for all who pray for me, especially for the smoothness of my surgery today,” the bishop wrote in his message.

Vatican expresses grave concern over missing bishop

VATICAN (SE): “The Holy See is following with grave concern the personal situation of Bishop Peter Shao Zhumin of Wenzhou, forcibly removed from his episcopal see some time ago,” Greg Burke, director of the Vatican press office, said in a statement on June 26, CNS reported.

The whereabouts of Wenzhou bishop remain a mystery

WENZHOU (SE): Bishop Peter Shao Zhumin is still being held at an unknown location after he was told to report to police in the city of Wenzhou on May 18.
 
This is regarded as an extraordinarily long detention by parishioners in Wenzhou.
