Do not fear or lose hope July 1 protest marchers told

HONG KONG (SE): Prior to the annual July 1 protest march, Church leaders urged around 250 participants at an ecumenical prayer meeting held at Paterson Street, Causeway Bay, not to fear or lose hope, but continue to show mercy and fight for justice and most importantly to keep one’s conscience alive. Those present were urged to defend the city with Christian values.

Raising social awareness in the Year of Youth

HONG KONG (SE): Responding to the diocesan Year of Youth, the Hong Kong Federation of Catholic Students is joining hands with the Diocesan Youth Commission and Commission for Justice and Peace to promote the social awareness among the young people through a series of formation activities.

Highs and lows of tertiary student organisations

HONG KONG (SE): The Hong Kong Federation of Catholic Students held a Mass for the beginning of the academic year at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Shek Kip Mei on September 29, during which Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing spoke of the importance of putting their own concerns aside to some extent and making a deliberate effort to listen to the voices of the people at the margins of society.

A prayer and a march in search of courage

HONG KONG (SE): The traditional ecumenical prayer meeting that has been held prior to the July 1 march lost its old spot in Victoria Park this year, as did the organisers of the march, who lost their gathering ground to the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong from British to Chinese sovereignty.
