New PIME regional leaders

HONG KONG (SE): The Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) in Hong Kong, announced the re-election of Father Giorgio Pasini (施永泰) as regional superior and Father Renzo Milanese as vice-regional superior.
 
Father Milanese, together with Father Franco Bellati (范子峰), Father Augustine Zaw Aung (容思定) and Father Manohar Jyothi (文凱華), were also chosen to serve as councillors. The term will be for four years.

Missionary sisters of the Immaculate celebrate 50 years in Hong Kong

The first Missionary sisters of the Immaculate (PIME Sisters) first set foot on Hong Kong soil on 11 September 1968— an auspicious day. Since then, 50 years have passed and they are counting the blessings of God Almighty and the maternal care of the Immaculate Mother for them down the decades. 
 
Of the two pioneers who reached arrived in 1968, Sister Theresa Pathickal is still with us, having served in the vineyard of the Lord and becoming a Hongkonger herself.

An unassuming yet brilliant missionary

LECCO (SE): A long-time missionary to Hong Kong, Italian-born Father Fernando Galbiati, from the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (pime), lost his battle with cancer on February 18.

Born on 14 November 1932 in the Bussero district of Milan, Father Galbiati was the superior general of pime during a highly productive time of growth, which sadly also saw great tragedies between 1983 and 1989.

China watcher to receive Matteo Ricci Award

HONG KONG (SE): Father Angelo Lazzarotto, from the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), is to be awarded the 2014 to 2015 Matteo Ricci International Award by the Council of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, Italy.

The award will be presented at a ceremony at the Pius XII Hall in the Vatican on November 25.

PIME sisters celebrate 75 years of mission

Hong Kong (SE): The Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate, popularly known as the PIME Sisters, celebrated the 75th anniversary of the foundation of their congregation, on Sunday December 4 at St. Thomas the Apostle church in Tsing Yi. The institute was established in Milan, Italy, on 8 December 1936 as an expression of the missionary spirit of the Church in obedience to the mandate of Jesus to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
