Bishop and priest freed by Chinese authorities

HONG KONG (UCAN): Bishop Peter Shao Zhumin of Wenzhou, and Father Lu Danhua of Lishui, were freed by authorities in China’s Zhejiang province on November 23 and 22.
 
Bishop Shao had been taken away by authorities on November 9, while Father Lu had been under detentions since December 29 last year.
 
Father Lu, who was ordained by Bishop Shao in 2016, is the only priest in sparsely populated Lishui Diocese, which is adjacent to Wenzhou.

Zhejiang priest still missing

Hong Kong (UCAN): Father Lu Danhua remains unaccounted for eight months after he was taken away from the dormitory of Qingtian Catholic Church in Zhejiang province, by personnel from Qingtian Religious Affairs Bureau. 
 
When he was detained on 29 December 2017, bureau personnel said they just wanted a brief chat and later said the priest had been taken to Wenzhou to study new religious regulations and return after legal registration.

Priest goes missing in Zhejiang

HONG KONG (UCAN): Father Lu Danhua from the diocese of Lishui in eastern Zhejiang province has been missing since government officials from State Administration for Religious Affairs took him away from a priests’ dormitory on December 29.
 
A witness to the incident said that the officials claimed Father Lu was only going for a brief chat.
 
He is the only priest of Lishui and was ordained by for the diocese by Bishop Peter Shao Zhumin, from the unofficial Church in Wenzhou, on 14 December 2016.
