Church needs young people, but they need to be heard too

ROME (CNS): The Catholic Church needs the enthusiasm, daring and hope of young people so that it can preach the gospel energetically and respond to the questions men and women raise today, Pope Francis told some 300 young adults gathered for the opening a weeklong meeting in preparation for October’s Synod of Bishops on March 19.
 
“We need to rediscover in the Lord the strength to get up after failure, to move forward, to strengthen hope for the future,” the pope said.

What do you want to tell the Church?

In the preparation for the pre-synodal meeting that is taking place in Rome from March 19 to 24, the Diocesan Youth Commission organised a small (extremely small) youth forum to meet with young people to listen to their thoughts and hopes in order to have a clear idea of the situation in which they are living.

Young people should not feel excluded from pre-synod meeting

VATICAN (CNS): “In short, even through the new technologies of communication, the pre-synod meeting wants to broaden as much as possible the audience of young people involved so that no one should feel excluded,” Lorenzo Cardinal Baldisseri told journalists on February 16, as he elaborated that that the Church is making use of every means of communication available to listen to young people from all walks of life in the runup to a March 19 to 24 preparatory meeting for the Synod of Bishops on Youth.
