Third Sunday of Lent - To convert is to find one’s identity

The gospel is depicting the response of Jesus to two true stories reported to him: a crime committed by Pilate and the sudden collapse of a tower at the pool of Siloam.

The incident was like this. Some pilgrims had come from Galilee to offer sacrifices in the temple, probably on the occasion of Easter. They made some provocative gestures, and finally, from words, they passed on to action: some shoving and a fistfight. Pilate, then, orders the massacre of the Galileans.

Third Sunday of Lent - Sa pananalangin natin makikilala ang Panginoon

Third Sunday of Lent: Body of Christ becomes the new temple

The house of prayer had been transformed into a market place during the time of Passover. Many pilgrims from distant countries to Jerusalem made sacrifices and renouncements for years to afford. Traders could accumulate more gains than throughout the rest of the years. It was difficult for the temple priests to resist the temptation to get into a so profitable turnover.

Third Sunday of Lent: Simbahan lugar panalanginan
