Mary Magdalene, after seeing the empty tomb runs to the two disciples: Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved. 
 
It is generally said that the beloved disciple is Evangelist John. But this identification took place much later, about 100 years after the apostle had died. However, in the Gospel of St. John, this figure certainly has a symbolic character and that should be understood.
 
This unnamed disciple is always connected in some way with Peter:
 

Alleluia, Alleluia. Si Hesus ay nabuhay. Sumikat ang Bagong Araw. Hindi sa biyernes Santo nagtapos ang lahat kundi sa Linggo at Pasko ng Pagkabuhay ng ating Panginoong Hesus. Kaya tayong lahat ay nagagalak, umaawit, nagpupuri at sumisigaw, Alleluia, si Hesus ay buhay. Nakita siya ng kanyang mga alagad. Sila Magdalena, Pedro at iba pa. Nakakatuwa na nakakaiyak. Totoo nga ang sabi ni Hesus na siya ay mabubuhay muli at tayo’y kanyang kukupkupin. 
 

May mga araw sa ating buhay na itinuturing nating pangkaraniwan lamang. Meron namang mga araw na tila ayaw nating dumating dahil sa pangamba o hindi kanais-nais na mangyayari. Subalit mayroong  mga araw na tila kapanapanabik. Isang espesyal na araw, isang araw na batid nating tayo ay magiging masaya.  
 

Befitting Easter, today’s gospel narrates the journey of Magdalene, Peter and the ‘other disciple whom Jesus loved’ from empty tomb to belief in the resurrection.
