Pope pushes mooncake drive

HONG KONG (UCAN): An initiative of the former bishop of Hong Kong, Joseph Cardinal Zen Ze-kiun, to give mooncakes to everyone in prison in Hong Kong at the mid-autumn festival has been taken up by Pope Francis.

The pope’s announcement has generated a flood of cash donations since it was published last week.

Cardinal Zen said that he guessed he would also be interested in donating mooncakes to prisoners as he is known as a man of generosity to the poor.
