Catholic education: an important mission

This year’s theme for Education Sunday is, Let the children come to me, (Mark 10:14). Catholic schools account for about 11 per cent of the schools in Hong Kong with their students numbering at around 150,000—about 17 per cent of the total number of in the territory’s schools. A ratio of about one-in-six.

Education is more than just lessons

The fourth Sunday of September each year is designated Education Day by the diocese of Hong Kong. It is the beginning of a new school year and a time when we are reminded to pray for our students, educational work and policies, and to pay more attention to education issues.

Life has its ups and downs. It is full of uncertainty and surprises, both good and ones we would rather do without. But by embracing life in times of doubt and uncertainty, the richness of our response can unfold new horizons of great blessing.
