Laity must have role in fighting clericalism

VATICAN (CNS): Clericalism has led to a distorted view of authority that has contributed to the problems of sexual abuse and the abuse of power and conscience affecting the Catholic Church, Beniamino Cardinal Stella, prefect of the Congregation for Clergy, said on September 3 during a talk in Fatima, Portugal.
 
He said the crisis facing the Church would not have been so grave if laity were more involved in the formation of current and future priests.

Baptism is commission to mission for everyone

HONG KONG (SE): John Cardinal Tong Hon reiterated the message of Vatican II that all the baptised are called to be missionary in their lives at a Mass celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on the feast of Christ the King on November 22.

The language of new evangelisation

 

The Synod of Bishops says in its final statement that new evangelisation is a process to be described not an entity to be defined, but strongly states that it is the duty of every Christian to be part of the process.

The final statement was passed by the 262 bishops present and goes into the hows, whys, whos and wherefores of the process.
