Last week, I returned from an emotional, heartbreaking visit to jail. I paid a long overdue visit to Sister Concelia Baxla from Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity, who, along with Anima Indwar, an employee of the Nirmal Hriday Home, was arrested 222 days ago on charges of child trafficking. 
 

NEW DELHI (AsiaNews): The while cotton sari edged with the blue stripe which has become the trademark of the Missionaries of Charity is now a legally registered trademark with the intellectual properties held by the congregation.
 
A common sight around Kolkata since the congregation was founded by Mother Teresa in 1950, it is now known around the world as the sisters have spread their presence to all corners of the globe.
 
The Trade Marks Registry of India granted the registration.
 

SANAA (AsiaNews): Despite rumours that spread prior to Easter that Father Tom Uzhunnalil, who was kidnapped during the bloody attack on the Missionaries of Charity compound in Aden, Yemen, on March 4, was to be crucified on Good Friday and had been tortured, Bishop Paul Hinder believes that he is alive and well.

The apostolic vicar of Southern Arabia said that photographs were not convincing and other reports cannot be substantiated.

ADEN (SE): Four sisters from the Missionaries of Charity along with at least 10 people from the staff of a facility for the aged and people with special needs in Aden, Yemen, were killed on March 4, when armed and uniformed men burst into their compound.

There are around 80 people living in the compound altogether.
