First time laity participation in Chaldean Catholic Church synod

AMMAN (CNS): For the first time, laity from various Chaldean Catholic dioceses in the Middle East and the diaspora participated in an August 4 to 10 synod in Ainkawa, a Christian enclave in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil.
 
The synod, held at the invitation of Louis Cardinal Sako, the Chaldean Catholic patriarch, brought together Church leaders and parishioners from Iraq, the United States, Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Canada, Australia and Europe to discuss issues vital for the Church’s future in Iraq and worldwide.

Synod thankful for return of displaced Christians

DAHUK (CNS): The Chaldean Catholic Church its August 7 to 13 synod in Baghdad, Iraq, offering thanks to God for the return of numerous displaced Christians to their hometowns in the Ninevah Plain and for pastoral achievements in their dioceses.
