Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Water and fire discord and peace

Today’s gospel combines a series of rather enigmatic sayings of the Lord. Let’s start with the images of fire and baptism. After the flood in the time of Noah, God swears: “Never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Ang Mabuting Balita ng Panginoon ayon kay San Lucas

Pag nilayan natin ang salita ni Hesus. “Naparito ako upang magdala ng apoy sa lupa – at sana’y napagningas na ito!
 
Nabubuhay tayo ngayon sa panahon  na kung saan malaki ang division o awayan ng mga tao. Bansa laban sa bansa. Pamilya laban sa pamilya. At kapatid laban sa kapatid. Ang mga kalye ay puno ng nagpo﹣protesta para ilaban ang karapatan at kapayapaan. Si Hesus ang syang inspirasyon natin at lakas.

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time: And the world became Eucharistic bread

Today’s Gospel continues the discourse on the “bread of heaven,” from last week. It begins with an outrageous statement: the bread to eat is “his own flesh.” The reaction of those present is understandable and justified. They discuss among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” They understand that he no longer refers only to the spiritual assimilation of God’s revelation, but also to a “concrete eating,” not metaphorical.

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Espesyal na tinapay

Jesus said to the crowds, I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.
 
The Jews quarrelled among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
