Youth Synod survey a fizz

VATICAN (SE): At the beginning of this year, the Vatican announced that it was posting a survey online for the use of young people from the ages of 16 to 29 as part of the preparation for the Bishops’ Synod on Youth that is scheduled to be held in Rome during October next year.
 
However, as due dates came and went, there was still no sign of the survey on the Internet. Eventually, it did show its head on June 14, but whatever initial enthusiasm had been shown for it seemed to have evaporated by then and it is now being judged as a fizzer.

A vocation camp Salesian style

On August 3, I joined the Salesian vocation director, Father Carlos Cheung Sam-yiu, together with two young Salesians and two other aspirants on the Salesian Hong Kong-Macau Joint Vocation Camp.
 
Organised by the vocation offices of Hong Kong and Macau region, a total of 20 young people attended the summer gathering in Macau, which ran under the theme Love and Service.

Indonesia set to host two major youth events

VAtican (UCAN): “We hope by having those two big events, we would like to expose that … Catholics are part of the Indonesian people,” Antonius Agus Sriyono, Indonesia’s ambassador to the Holy See said, as the country gears up to host  Indonesian Youth Day, from October 1 to 6 in Manado, and Asian Youth Day from 30 July 30 to 6 August 2017, in Yogyakarta, Vatican Radio reported.

“They have to have tolerance for other religions,” the ambassador said.

MANILA (SE): Bringing the good news to the cloud is one of the challenges identified by some 130 young Catholic Asians from 13 countries, who gathered in Manila, The Philippines, to celebrate the first ever encounter of the Claretian Family and the Youth of Asia East (AEYG + CF 2015) from August 3 to 8.
