Troubled southern Philippine island gets new bishop

MANILA (UCAN): Claretian Father Leo Dalmao was ordained and installed as the fourth bishop of Isabela, the capital of Basilan province in the southern Philippines, known in recent years as a hub of insurgent activity by various Islamic extremist groups, on May 24.
 
The 49-year-old Bishop Dalmao, suceeded Bishop Martin Jumoad who was named bishop of Ozamiz in 2016. He becomes the first Filipino Claretian missionary to join the College of Bishops.

Biblical formation a must for Christians

HONG KONG (SE): Bible formation is a must not only for missionaries but for every believer because every Christian is a missionary. Biblical inspiration of our life and ministries as listeners and servants of the Word was the guiding theme for a five-day Bible seminar in Hong Kong organised by the Claretian Missionaries in East Asia from May 13 to 18.

MANILA (SE): Bringing the good news to the cloud is one of the challenges identified by some 130 young Catholic Asians from 13 countries, who gathered in Manila, The Philippines, to celebrate the first ever encounter of the Claretian Family and the Youth of Asia East (AEYG + CF 2015) from August 3 to 8.
