Time for ‘all-out battle’ against abuse

VATICAN (SE): “I make a heartfelt appeal for an all-out battle against the abuse of minors both sexually and in other areas, on the part of all authorities and individuals, for we are dealing with abominable crimes that must be erased from the face of the earth,” Pope Francis said in closing the February 21 to 24 Vatican summit on The Protection of Minors in the Church.

Summit on sex abuse: Silence and denial are unacceptable

VATICAN (CNS): When presented with an accusation that a priest has sexually abused a child, “whether it’s criminal or malicious complicity and a code of silence or whether it is denial” on a very human level, such reactions are no longer tolerable, Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta, the Vatican’s top investigator of abuse cases said during a news conference on February 18.
