Religious affairs officials accused of corruption

Beijing (AsiaNews): Ye Xiaowen, a former head of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, and Zhu Weiqun, the former head of the Tibet section of the United Front Work Department, have been called out by a Tibetan scholar of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing for corruption in connection with the designation of Living Buddhas, or tulku.

Top religious affairs official faces corruption probe

BEIJING (UCAN): Zhang Lebin, a deputy director of the State Administration of Religious Affairs in Beijing, is facing investigation as part of the far-reaching anti-corruption drive of the president, Xi Jinping.

It is the first such case against a top party member from a bureau responsible for the management of religion in China.
