Blessing of the legal profession

HONG KONG (SE): Around 100 people from the legal profession gathered for a celebration of the opening of the Legal Year on January 9 at St. John’s Cathedral at which they prayed for justice and the rule of law. Presided over by Archbishop Paul Kwong and John Cardinal Tong Hon, the ceremony was arranged for the same day on which local judicial officers mark the beginning of the legal year at City Hall. |

HONG KONG (SE): The president of the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Service at Vatican, Michelle Moran, and her husband, Peter, were the guests of the Hong Kong Catholic Charismatic Service Committee for its annual Advent gathering at the Caritas Community Hall on December 11. Speaking to the theme Spreading the Fire, Michelle Moran said that what makes God real or not real for us is what we believe in our hearts. |

Bishop writes to people in prison

HONG KONG (SE): “The majority of people in Hong Kong prisons eventually are offered the grace of walking through the holy door as an experience of joy after a long sorrow,” Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing told a gathering of people who work in the prison ministry held at the cathedral on August 28. The auxiliary bishop of Hong Kong added that before they get the chance to walk through the big gate to freedom, they must accept the consequences of their crimes. |
