Our call to mission

HONG KONG (SE): A celebration of the 50th year of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal was held at the hall of the Sing Yin Secondary School in Clearwater Bay Road, Kowloon, on August 13. 
 
Around 1,000 people from the Chinese- and English-speaking charismatic communities gathered for the occasion.
 
The Chinese-speaking community ran a songs of praise session prior to a worship session led by Jing Mendoza, from the Loved Flock Charismatic Community.

Free to be me at KAMMPI

HONG KONG (SE): The Simbayanan-KAMMPI celebrated its 17th anniversary at Mother of Good Council parish, San Po Kong, on October 11 with a gala day showcasing folk dances from Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, as well as a bit of modern dance by way of showing how the art develops.

A Mass was celebrated by Father Rodolfo Jacobe and Father Helmuth Peter.

Father Jacobe urged the gathering to face their responsibilities and challenges in life instead of avoiding them.

300-year-old church celebrated in China

XI’AN (UCAN): With a splash of red silk, Bishop Anthony Dang Mingyan and three other bishops unveiled a tablet in the grounds of St. Francis Cathedral in Xi’an marking the 300th anniversary of the church in Shaanxi, China, and installed a relic of its patron, St. Francis of Assisi, at the culmination of what was a four-day gala event beginning on October 1 and concluding on October 4.

A night to remember

HONG KONG (SE): At a Mass celebrated by Father Stephen Chan Mun-hung on September 28 to mark the second anniversary of the beginning of the 79-day sit-in variously dubbed Occupy Central and the Umbrella Movement, long time politician, Martin Lee Chu-ming, commented, “In all of my 22 years in politics, I have never seen people who do not have any experience in politics elected to the Legislative Council (LegCo).”

Anniversary Mass at Occupy epicentre

HONG KONG (SE): On the first anniversary of the launch of Occupy Central, a Mass was offered outside the government headquarters on the spot described as being the epicentre of the 79-day rally.

The Mass was celebrated on the same site at which people had gathered for the Eucharist on the opening day of the demonstration and then each Sunday during the 79-day sit-in.
