Anniversary Mass at Occupy epicentre

HONG KONG (SE): On the first anniversary of the launch of Occupy Central, a Mass was offered outside the government headquarters on the spot described as being the epicentre of the 79-day rally.

The Mass was celebrated on the same site at which people had gathered for the Eucharist on the opening day of the demonstration and then each Sunday during the 79-day sit-in.

Cardinal Zen speaks on what has been lost to education and to Hong Kong

The process of the judicial review on the Education (Amendment) Ordinance 2004 (Amended Ordinance) has reached its end.

The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong has expressed disappointment at the judgment of the Court of Final Appeal, but at the same time has reaffirmed its decision to carry on its educational endeavour (within the constraints of that Ordinance).

Cardinal Zen questions unconditional commitment to government

 

HONG KONG (SE): “Education is a process in which students seek the truth and, in the process, develop their potential,” the former bishop of Hong Kong, Joseph Cardinal Zen Ze-kiun, told around 300 people at a forum organised by the Catholic Education Office at Ng Wah Catholic Secondary School on September 25 to discuss the proposed Moral and National Education Consultation Paper.
