NEW YORK (SE): An Interfaith Climate Statement to World Leaders was presented to the secretary general of the United Nations (UN), Ban Ki-moon, at a ceremony held in the Chapel of the Church Centre for the UN in Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, New York, on April 18, four days prior to the scheduled signing of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change adopted last year on December 12. |

Climate sinners named in petition

PARIS (Agencies): A petition has been filed with the Philippine Human Rights Commission against what is termed Carbon Majors for the violation of the people’s human rights resulting from the impact on climate change from their high level polluting industrial activity in the country. Twenty individuals and 13 environmental groups in The Philippines have signed the petition, which was filed in September. |

HONG KONG (SE): On November 29, the eve of the beginning of the United Nations Conference of Parties on Climate Change in Paris, people in Hong Kong responded to the call of Pope Francis to get out onto the streets and plead for the environment. An animated Pope Francis said that he wants mess and bustle in the dioceses in his call to Catholic people to get out onto the streets. |
