Fast against terrorism

LAHORE (AsiaNews): Human rights advocates from different religious backgrounds began a hunger strike on February 12 in protest against government inability to counter Islamic terrorism.

“2016 has just begun and already we have witnessed major terrorist attacks,” Samson Salamat, who heads the Christian Rwadari Tehreek (Movement for Tolerance), said.

Islamic State rumoured to be in Mindanao

COTABATO (UCAN): One of the top Muslim religious leaders in The Philippines has voiced concern over reports pointing to a growing presence of the group calling itself the Islamic State in the southern Philippine region of Mindanao.

“This is alarming, very disturbing,” Sheikh Abdulrahman Udasan, the grand mufti of the Darul Ifta of The Philippines, said on December 2.

Four arrested for threats against pope

BRESCIA (Agencies): Following a tip from the United States of America (US) Federal Bureau of Investigation, four people were arrested by police in Brescia, northern Italy, and in the Balkan state of Kosovo on suspicion of being terrorist risks and making threats on social media against Pope Francis.
