Staff of Vatican women’s magazine resign

VATICAN CITY (CNS): Claiming a lack of support for open dialogue and for an editorial line run by women, the director and editorial staff of Women-Church-World, a Vatican women’s magazine have resigned.
 
But the editor of L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, which publishes the magazine, countered that he has given the staff “the same total autonomy and freedom” that have marked its work since it began.

New editor for Vatican newspaper

VATICAN (CNS): L’Osservatore Romano must demonstrate how the Catholic Church walks alongside people, but it also must keep the distance necessary to proclaim hope when many people are disappointed and to shake people when they get complacent, Andrea Monda, the paper’s new director, said. 
 
Monda was named director on December 18, and published a statement of his vision on December 20.

Charlie Hebdo anniversary cartoon does not amuse

VATICAN CITY (CNS): The Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, criticised the cover page cartoon of a special commemorative edition of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, on the first anniversary of the deadly attacks on the publication’s offices on Paris.
