Easter baptisms in China

Young Chinese Catholics, newly baptised at Easter, explained that their faith in God changed their lives and their conversions impelled them to learn more about him and share this experience with others in their atheist and materialist societies.

Nearly 50,000 baptisms in China

VATICAN (CNS): The Catholic Church in China registered 48,556 baptisms in 2017, according to a February 15 report by Fides, the news agency of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples.
 
The figures are likely incomplete, given the difficulty of procuring data from Catholic communities in the rural parts of China, report said.

Singapore looks to bumper crop of baptisms

SINGAPORE (SE): Singapore is looking towards a bumper crop of adult baptisms at Easter, as 1,127 people currently taking part in the catechumenate fronted at the rite of election, part of the rite of baptism, so far.

At Christ the King Church, 498 catechumens from a non-Christian background and 68 who are seeking full communion with the Catholic Church recently participated in the rite of election. At the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour another 443 are making preparations.
